We are five builders based in Mauritius. We started as a hackathon team and realised we liked building for other people even more than building for judges.
From a hackathon to a company.
Black Reef started as a student team at Middlesex University Mauritius. At Hack the Campus we designed and built a working product against the clock and took first place.
What stayed with us was not the trophy. It was how much a small, focused team can build when everyone owns their part. So we kept going, and set up Black Reef to do the same work for businesses in Mauritius and beyond.
The name comes from the reef that surrounds the island: built slowly, from thousands of small pieces, until it is strong enough to hold back the ocean.
